As reported earlier, Creamy Radio will be out covering the 40th Anniversary Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival in Seattle this week. To celebrate this occasion, Frank Thompson of the AZ Rhythm Connection has graciously given up his slot of Classic Moments to the Dog and Captain. With that the station proudly presents the Dog and Captain Bumbershoot Preview Show this Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. all Pacific time.
Look for the program to be close to an hour of witty banter and plenty of music from the acts taking the stage such Bob Dylan, The Decemberists, Neko Case, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (40 Day Dream Live Here), Ra Ra Riot, and The Budos Band. Find out who the Dog plans on seeing when left with a choice between catching Edward Sharpe and Neko Case. Get insight from the Captain on his history seeing Bob Dylan live, including an infamous first time way back in 1991. But what ultimately comes out in the show is the warmth and love of music from two individuals who have enjoyed it so much over many years...
See you in Seattle folks.

The Prince of Ska: Prince Buster The God of Reggae: Bob Marley...
There was a lot of music in between!
Many people believe that reggae music began with Bob Marley and that anything before or after him just doesn’t matter. Like anything else that evolves over time, Marley’s music was the next magical stop along the historical line of Jamaican music. Our show this week looks in to the origins of reggae music. How did the music from one little island of the world, (the stone that the builder refused) become the head cornerstone?
Listen in to discover how the traditional folk music of Jamaica, rooted in the rhythms of the transplanted Africans, elevated the upbeat (the skank) into a musical force heard round the world. The ingredients of electrified music, cultural necessity, religious fervor and a dash of herb were slowly simmered through the musical generations of Mento, Ska and Rocksteady until the manchild of music, REGGAE was born.
What did the legend of Hercules have to do with the legend Bob Marley? Why are 54 and 46 two of the most known numbers in Jamaican History? What Oscar nominated movie first depicted dreadlocks in a famous scene? Only one island in the Caribbean was not directly influenced by Spanish music? Hmm, which one was that?
Listen in Tuesday at 6P PST or Saturday at 2P PST to get these answers and many more back stories on the origins of Reggae.

Frank Thompson of the AZ Rhythm Connection says, depending on what song you listen to, Grace Potter sounds like each of these ladies. What do you think? Let us know your opinions after listening to the show.

Etta James Janice Joplin Rickie Lee Jones
Think about those times when you are riding around in your car or doing whatever and you suddenly hear a new song or band that perks the ears and makes you say, “Hey that sounds like this band or that band from back in the day.”
Our “Sounds Like” show explores that experience as we sample some of the music from national and local independent bands and discuss what famous band or song they remind us of. Using the Indie music from the digital vaults of Creamy Radio, we reach back to link indie songs of today to the vintage vinyl of years gone by.
So come along with us and drive the musical streets explored by the indie bands: Grace Potter, What Laura Says, Shelly King, Love Me Nots, Haymarket Squares and the Sugar Thieves. You will enjoy the ride as we stop by the homes on Janis Joplin Avenue, Etta James Court, Doobie Brothers Boulevard and Lyle Lovitt Lane. We also pull into the driveways of Rickie Lee Jones, Bonnie Raitt and Tracy Chapman. Netcast times: Tuesday, 6P with a repeat on Saturday, 2P. Hosted by Frank Thompson of the AZ Rhythm Connection.

Creamy Radio's Station Manager: Derek "Dog" at Motown's Famed Studio A
Motown! That word conjures up images of Smokey, Marvin, Diana, The Temps, The Four Tops and the Jackson Five. All of them have a master suite in the Motown musical mansion. But what about those tier-2 performers who only merited a spare bedroom or only a broom closet? How about those bands that came through without making a hit and got left in the musical attic?
This show explores bands that were often left to ask, What Becomes of the Broken Hearted? What do you do when you are the brother of the number one male singer at Motown and you want to sing on a hit song? What was Motown thinking when they decided to create a label that was for "White Only" bands? Michael Jackson, from Gary Indiana, was not the only one at Hitsville to say, Indiana Wants Me!
Some Tier Two artists used a Machine Gun approach while others used a Shotgun as they performed for Berry Gordy and other producers asking, What Does it Take to Win Your Love? Those lesser bands were aching to prove, Baby I'm for Real and I Just want to Celebrate a with a hit record.
So Get Ready to Let it Whip as we check out the Square Biz of the tier-2 bands that only got a spare room at the Motown mansion. Classic Moments in Music with Frank Thompson of the AZ Rhythm Connection: 6P Tonight or 2P Saturday afternoon. ( 9P EST and 5P EST Saturday)
